Mariama Netty

Mariama Netty

Bournemouth University
I am Mariama Naa Nerteley Nettey, an International Tourism and Hospitality Management student at Bournemouth University from Ghana, and my tourism journey started at home. Growing up in Ghana, I experienced vibrant festivals, storytelling traditions, music, food, and a strong sense of community. Hospitality felt natural. Welcoming guests, sharing meals, and celebrating culture were everyday experiences. That shaped my love for travel and human connection from a young age.
What excites me most about tourism is how it brings people together. I’m especially drawn to experiential hospitality, which is about how atmosphere, service, and culture create memorable moments. I enjoy exploring how destinations create strong identities and how businesses design customer journeys that feel personal and not just transactional. I’m also passionate about sustainable tourism and how emerging destinations, particularly in Africa, can grow responsibly while keeping their authenticity.
Studying international tourism has given me a global perspective on the industry. I love learning how trends, innovation, and technology change our experiences of the world. I’m curious, open-minded, and always eager to learn from different cultures and viewpoints. Outside of my studies, I enjoy discovering new places, trying different cuisines, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. I take pride in representing Ghana while studying internationally. It reminds me that tourism is about more than just destinations; it’s about identity, culture, and shared experiences. My goal is to contribute to a tourism industry that is inclusive, creative, and impactful. I want to help create opportunities and meaningful memories across borders.

Lola Bond

Lola Bond

University of Wolverhampton

My name is Lola Bond, and I am currently studying Business and Tourism Management at the University of Wolverhampton. My passion for travel has been the driving force behind my ambition to build a career within the tourism industry.

Alongside my studies, I work in an independent café within the hospitality sector, where I have developed strong customer service skills and grown significantly in confidence. This experience has strengthened my ability to communicate effectively, work under pressure, and deliver a positive customer experience.

I previously completed a Level 3 qualification in Travel and Tourism, achieving an outstanding D*D*D* grade. During this period, I had the privilege of serving as my Class Representative, and I was later selected to take on the same role at university. In these positions, I supported my peers by listening to their concerns, communicating effectively with staff, and helping to resolve issues constructively. These experiences significantly strengthened my leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

I am committed to continuing my professional development and look forward to contributing my enthusiasm, dedication, and industry knowledge to future opportunities within the tourism and hospitality sector.
